Therapy with DeeDee
I help both adults and children struggling with anxiety, depression, and loss overcome these challenges to feel empowered and successful in managing their day-to-day lives.
As part of my commitment to clients, I have switched to Telehealth (like FaceTime) services to stay connected and maintain a relationship during these challenging times.
Anxiety does not discriminate - Adults and children alike are experiencing stress now more than ever. Relationships are being tested like never before. The positive feedback from adult and child clients has been heartwarming. Helping clients discover the tools they need to feel stronger and calmer has become my mission. Parents are also enjoying Telehealth sessions to learn "play therapy strategies" for bonding with their children.
How Telehealth Works - Using a computer or tablet is preferable because these devices can be set on a table, however phone sessions are also an option. There is no need to download anything. At the time of the scheduled appointment clients just click on the link below and find themselves in my telehealth waiting room.

My approach is diverse, as I incorporate a variety of therapeutic principles in order to customize therapy to each unique individual's needs. For example, I’ll use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with anxious or depressed adults and teens and cognitive-behavioral play therapy (toys, books, puppets, sand tray, etc.,) with anxious or depressed children to help them feel successful in managing their emotions.

Anxiety and Depression
An essential element of my practice
establishing a strong relationship
in a safe and nurturing environment.
I delight in witnessing the personal growth
and resiliency of my clients.
I wrote most of the featured articles here for the Michigan Association of Play Therapy. As the owner of the most successful independent mental health bookstore in the USA for 27 years, I was a resource for schools and organizations across the country. As a result, I was often asked to write about children’s books covering mental health issues.
Please know that I do work with adults, teens, and children in my current practice.
